Yellow Rhino Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit program that was started in 2018. When Chris first visited Nairobi in 2018 she felt a calling to extend Christ's love and mercy to orphans and children living in extreme poverty.  Education is vital for these children. These children also need to be ministered to in many ways. Some do not have enough to eat and some are sick. Some have been badly traumatized and some need parenting or role models. Some just need encouragement and to see someone living out their faith.

What is Yellow Rhino Ministries and why is it needed?

Public primary school (K thru 8th grade) was made free in Kenya in 2003.  However, this led to overcrowding and many classrooms have 75 to 100 children per teacher.  Chris was invited to visit a local public school in May of 2022. The principal told her how difficult it was for him to turn away so many students because his school is so overcrowded. There are not enough public schools for the Nairobi student population, which is why we place students in private schools.

In the photo to the left you can see 42 preschoolers in one room with just one teacher.

Isn't public school free in Kenya?
